Fishing Season?

Question:

I can answer for much of the Northeast. NY: arbitrary closed seasons. Different for different species. Bass is closed from 11/30 till 2nd weekend in June, except on 7 lakes there there’s a catch and release season that begins in May. CT: No closed season per se, except that waters stocked with trout may not be fished at all (regardless of species being targets) during the closed trout season, which is 2/28 to 3rd sat in april, except on special trophy trout lakes (eg Candlewood) where it is from 4/1 to 3rd Sat in April. MA: no closed season. NH: Bass is closed for a while, then opened on a C&R only basis for a while, then on a 2 fish a day basis for a while, then it’ gets "regular" in mid-June. I’ve stopped trying to make sense of it. VT, Bass season opens 1st Sat in June, but C&R fishing is specifically allowed from 4/1 until the ‘opener’. ME: Uh, I forget. RI: They have fresh water in RI?
