I have been hunting with Rocket broadheads for the last three years now. I used to hunt with Thunderheads and was a little shy to change to expandable broadheads. With a little coaxing from a friend who happened to own an archery pro shop I decided to give them a try. I shot a nice doe the other day at roughly 32yds from my stand. The shot went through both shoulders and the deer was down within 10seconds of the shot. I watched her fall no more than 50yds from where she was hit. When I skinned the deer her right front shoulder, which was the entry spot, almost completely fell off. I have been bowhunting for almost 6yrs and have never seen anything more devestating. I have a friend who shot an 11pt two yrs ago and we sent the picture of the entry and exit wounds to Rocket and they were to put it in their advertisements for the broadheads. I am sold on these broadheads. They are absolutely incredible. Good luck. Safe hunting. Don

I’ve always been afraid of using expandable’s but from what Ive seen the last 2 seasons at the checking station, I’m changing my tune. Currently I shoot Thunderhead 100’s and they kill just fine, and hold up well, but the blood trails are LOUSY. OTOH everyone I talk to who shoots Rockets swears by ‘em..a blind man could follow the trail, in the event that the deer doesn’t fall right in front of you. Also, the guy who owns our local pro shop says that the manufacturer will replace any head with a broken blade. Anyone had experiences with bigger game than deer? BTW–I’ve read the "minimum launch speed" is 220 FPS to ensure opening. Hope this helps.

I shot a doe that was 15yds away and quartering toward me a week ago. She was licking herself on her back, so her head was facing away from me. She must have flinched because I hit her a lot farther back than than where I was aiming. Anyway, the arrow came out the opposite hind quarter. When I was following the blood trail I assumed I had hit in the front shoulder area. Needless to say I was quite suprised to see where the arrow had actually hit her and exited. It’s amazing what a 2.5" slice does to make an animal bleed to death! I used the Game Tracker 100g Stilleto. Guys at the archery shops have heard of expanable blades breaking when hitting bones. -Kurt-

My friend and I have been using the Rocket mini-blasters for the past two years. Neither of us has had a bad experience with them. As a matter of fact the entry/exit wounds they have made are spectacular. My friend shot a deer the other day, the entry was right in the shoulder, as it exited the other shoulder, it nearly cut the leg off. The manufacturer does reccomend you shoot at least 280 fps at launch for the mini blasters I believe. Good luck…. David

A few days back I was bowhunting for whitetails. A small buck walked within 30 yards of me, so I took the shot. It may be the worst shot I have ever taken. Even though the deer was totally broadside to me, either he jumped the string, or the arrow hit a branch and it hit him in the back leg just above the knee joint. The arrow pased through the leg one leg completely and stuck into the ground on the other side. I know that it sounds like the deer is totally unrecoverable, but i found him. The broadhead that I was using put such a large hole in the leg, that it never stopped bleeding. The broadhead was a Rocket Arrowhead expandable. In my ten years of bowhunting I have never seen a hole that size. I would like to know if any one else has had the experience as I had, or has any one had bad experiences with expandable broadheads?
